Should you wish to apply for Intermediate or Advanced, you will be required to attach your CV with your application and a determination will be made as to whether that particular course is at a suitable level for you.

Tutoring by top professionals only.
Creating a positive, nurturing learning space.
Tailoring the classes to the needs of the Profession.

These short courses run for three hours once a week over 6 weeks. Classes are one evening per week, 3-4 hrs in duration. There are two stages: |
STAGE I - Learning the Tools (Screen Acting for Beginners, Intermediate & Advanced)
STAGE II - Refining the Tools (Master Intensives & Pro Workshops)
|
Acting for Beginners covers Screen Acting Basics including improvisation, actions, objectives, motivation, interpretation and scene analysis. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Students may bring along a blank DVD to record their work in progress each week. An audition is not required. Should a student wish to continue on - there is a 6 week Stage I Intermediate. This six week short course covers 'The Unique You' - Reacting - Not acting, with focus on listening as the key. Covering choices and stakes, understanding a scene through listening to the author, super fast line learning techniques, monologue as a personal story, simple skills to take direction, and basic overview of on set craft. The course is a series of games, impro, scene and monologue work. The Australian film and television industry on the whole is looking for unique personalities who can set the screen alight. This intermediate course focuses on methods that will help you present in auditions and on set as the unique YOU in a relaxed, focused, and charismatic way. If the applicant has not completed Acting for Beginners, then a CV will be required on application for selection. Continuing on to the Stage I Advanced six week course - students explore monologue & scene work and the technical requirements for acting on screen. The tutors for this particular advanced course vary between professional actors and directors. If the applicant has not completed Screen Acting Intermediate, then a CV will be required on application for selection. Each term for each course costs $609. Early Birds enjoy a discount of $110 bringing the cost down to $499 per term. The final date for this special discount is two weeks prior to each course commencing. Any date after that attracts the full cost of $609. Places are not confirmed until full payment or a deposit has been received. After three terms of Stage I, students can then apply for the Stage II Pro Workshops and the discounts continue. Please note, we cannot give dates in advance for the Stage II Pro Workshops until the tutor's schedule has been confirmed. Please check the website. Should an applicant request to skip the Stage I Acting for Beginners term and go directly into Stage I Intermediate or Stage I Advanced or the Stage II Pro Workshop classes then a CV is required to be sighted by the office. If the applicants level of expertise cannot be determined from their CV, then an audition may be necessary for entry. Our Pro Workshops in Stage II also run for 6 weeks and concentrate on refining and polishing performance.
Should an audition be necessary, the audition process for Stage I Intermediate and above consists of a cold read on the day of the interview unless the Principal Director believes the applicant's CV will suffice. |
Some clients may have a particular problem area they need to work on; some may simply need to 'refresh' already acquired skills, some may be specifically interested in working with one of our tutors (all industry professionals); someone may have an important casting or audition coming up and require private tuition. In such cases, clients may prefer to do just one 6 week term, or as many terms as they like. Coming and going as it suits them.
