Despite the agony in this rotten profession, there is much ecstasy. And the people you work with are the cream of humanity. Who else would strive to work in such a service industry, where most of the time, they are to undergo private deprivation and public humiliation in order to manufacture dreams for total strangers in need of them - Hayes Gordon

PEOPLE….BE WARNED!

There are many Charlatans out there, so called 'professionals', professing to have what it takes to get you a job - offering actors quick fixes for showreels and quick roads to success...but please be warned! There are NO quick fixes.
Anyone who offers you advice for a price...or a chance to be seen by Casting Consultants and Directors when you're not ready...or offer you a showreel without taking into consideration what you have to lose...then they are exploiting you and your situation.
Just remember, exposure doesn't give you better opportunities...better training does.

Director Peter Andrikidis Master Intensive a roaring success!

The Peter Andrikidis master intensive was an enormous success last Saturday. Peter was warm, funny and extremely generous with his time and experience. Students were exposed to a plethora of interesting insights in to the Australian Film & Television Industry. Each one given special attention, constructive criticism, and invaluable direction.

"Hello Denise,
A quick email to say thankyou for putting together the workshop with Peter Andrikidis today. I felt very comfortable in the Screenwise space and got a lot out of working with Peter in a workshop/intimate environment. I also found your own experience and input into the workshop invaluable-thankyou. Please also pass on my thanks to your staff.

I hope to do further work with Screenwise (and possibly in the future to enter your books and have you represent me! I can see how lucky your talent is to have you batting for them & their hard work)." Monique Kalmar

SCREENWISE STUDENT ANDY WHITFIELD IS SPARTACUS!

Australian Andy Whitfield is 'Spartacus'
Lucy Lawless co-stars in Starz drama series
By Nellie Andreeva
March 30, 2009, 04:32 PM ET

Aussie Andy Whitfield has landed the title role on Starz's series "Spartacus: Blood and Sand," while "Xena" star Lucy Lawless is returning to ancient times with a co-starring role on the series about the famous Roman gladiator, from producer Sam Raimi.

On "Spartacus," which begins production Wednesday in New Zealand for a January premiere, Lawless will play Lucretia, who along with her husband Batiatus, owns Spartacus.

With the exception of Lawless, the cast of the series features mostly lesser-known actors -- Erin Cummings as Spartacus' wife; Peter Mensah as Batiatus' most loyal slave; Manu Bennett as a top gladiator; Antonio Te Maioha as Batiatus' bodyguard; Craig Parker as a Roman Legate; and Nick E. Tarabay as a former gladiator-turned-bookie.

"Spartacus," produced by Starz Media, will use virtual sets to re-create ancient Rome. It is exec produced by Raimi and Rob Tapert, who also exec produced "Xena," as well as Joshua Donen.

The trio developed the series, on which Steven S. DeKnight will serve as head writer.
